On June 22, 2023, Vienna hosted the International Conference on the Women’s Revolution in Iran, titled “Women, Life, Freedom – Jin, Jiyan, Azadî.”
Organized at the Otto-Mauer-Zentrum with the support of the City of Vienna, the event brought together numerous committed figures — activists, researchers, journalists, academics, and representatives of minorities — to analyze the central role of women in the current revolutionary movement in Iran.

Among the noteworthy speakers was Nazila Golestan, author, editorial strategist, and producer, who denounced “the industry of oppression” perpetrated against Iranian women.

Through four panels, the conference explored the intersections between gender, religion, art, and politics, while also giving voice to women themselves.
This intense day of discussions highlighted the universal dimension of Iranian women’s struggle for freedom, equality, and justice.
