Woman Watch

Empowering of Women as a Factor of Change

At Women Watch, a project under Hamava, we are dedicated to empowering Iranian women to challenge systemic corruption and sexual discrimination within the political forces of Iran. Our mission is to advocate for more justice and anti-sexual apartheid drives in the judiciary and political system at large. We firmly believe that a democratic society cannot thrive in an institutionally discriminatory, corrupt system that denies half of the society their basic constitutional rights as citizens.

Our Vision

Our vision is to raise awareness among the public about the implications of sexual discrimination on the personal well-being of citizens and the state of the country. By shedding light on how sexual discrimination impacts individuals and society, we aim to compel society to demand that legal authorities formally acknowledge sexual-based violence against girls and women in Iran as a crime. We encourage Iranian women to speak out against sexual inequity and work for widespread reform.

Confronting Inequality for Progress

Democracy and women’s rights can only advance through confronting and eliminating sexual apartheid and structural and institutional inequality. Under Women Watch, we undertake various projects, including:

RAVI Bot

A Bot designed to collect documents and testimonies of crimes against women, creating a databank to prove the existence of systematic and institutionalized sexual discrimination within the Islamic regime. This initiative also generates statistical information and helps identify those responsible for crimes against women.

Educational Podcasts

We produce educational podcasts covering topics such as violations against women, women’s rights, women’s health, and the empowerment of women as agents of change in society. These programs aim to inform, educate, and empower Iranian women to advocate for their rights and strive for positive societal transformation.

Art and Culture

Through various art and cultural projects, Women Watch not only aims to showcase the talents and abilities of women who are often censored in the country but also utilizes these projects as a powerful tool for raising awareness. By providing a platform for expression and creativity, we seek to amplify the voices of women and shed light on the issues of sexual discrimination and gender-based violence. Through art, music, literature, and other cultural endeavors, we strive to spark conversations, challenge societal norms, and inspire positive change in Iranian society.
