In 2007, in Tehran — guilty of having stabbed and killed the man who attempted to rape her, a young Iranian woman was sentenced to death for murder.

On May 30 at 8:15 p.m., a special screening of the documentary “7 Winters in Tehran” took place at Le Fontenelle Cinema in Marly-le-Roi, with the support of ACAT-France (Action by Christians for the Abolition of Torture) and Amnesty International.

This powerful film retraces the story of Reyhaneh Jabbari, a young Iranian woman sentenced to death after stabbing the man who tried to rape her.
Through footage secretly filmed, the documentary sheds light on the relentless struggle of her family and turns Reyhaneh into a symbol of the fight for women’s rights in Iran.

The screening was followed by a discussion with Nazila Golestan, Editorial Director of Andished TV and spokesperson for HamAva, who personally knows Reyhaneh’s family and has defended her cause, notably at the European Parliament.
