HamAva (in English: “Same Voice”) is a non-political association governed by the law of July 1, 1901, and the decree of August 16, 1901.
HamAva is a national coalition for a democratic and secular Iran, bringing together political and civil society actors, political prisoners, and lawyers inside the country. It is solemnly committed to achieving a non-violent transition from the theocratic and kleptocratic government established in Iran since 1979 to a democratic and secular political system based on the Charter of Human Rights — by the people, for the people, and with the people.
The non-political association aims to:
- Ensure respect for women’s rights as defined by the Universal Declaration of Human Rights;
- Promote gender equality, as well as women’s and LGBTQIA+ rights;
- Combat violence against women and all forms of discrimination against them;
- Promote democratic values such as fundamental freedoms, secularism, and freedom of expression;
- Build a coalition of civil activists working for the defense of universal rights;
- And carry out any other actions, in any form, related to the association’s goals and objectives.
