The Paris section of Licra and the HamAva association are organizing a debate evening at the Paris Centre City Hall (2 rue Eugène Spuller, 3rd arrondissement, Paris, banquet hall) on Friday, January 19, 2024, at 7:00 PM on the theme: “The Influence Strategies of the Tehran-Moscow-Beijing Axis: A Threat to Democracies.”
In recent years, a political rapprochement has been occurring between Iran, Russia, and China—three authoritarian regimes engaged in global disinformation and propaganda operations aimed at expanding their spheres of influence and weakening democracies. Faced with the military superiority of the United States, these states are intensifying efforts to launch an all-out offensive using all the resources of cyberspace. This offensive raises questions about the ability of democratic societies to arm themselves and defend against the array of technologies used to destabilize them. The state of affairs, challenges, and perspectives on this topic will be at the heart of this debate evening.
Guests:
- Nazila Golestan, spokesperson of the HamAva association and producer of audiovisual television programs
- David Colon, teacher and researcher in history at Sciences Po, author of La Guerre de l’information (Tallandier, 2023)
- André Lange, researcher in information and communication sciences, scientific collaborator at the Department of Media, Culture, and Communication, University of Liège
