Your Excellencies,
We, the undersigned supporters of the National Solidarity Movement, in advocating for a secular and democratic constitution based on human rights and the preservation of Iran’s territorial integrity, in alignment with millions of Iranian citizens and our political and civil activists respectfully requesting you to use all your political influence to support the wishes and will of the Iranian people in preventing a devastating war in the Middle East.
On the second anniversary of the deadly and terrorist attack by Hamas in Israel, making statements such as “hitting the octopus’s head” in Iran in the context of the ongoing war in the Middle East only brings the threat of destruction, both in terms of life and economy, for both the Iranian and Israeli nations, while also dragging regional and global countries into a dark and dangerous future for the Middle East and the world.
The GCC and the international community have experienced nothing but destruction, mass killings, and economic damage from the wars of the past 45 years in the Persian Gulf and the Middle East.
At the same time, in Iran, war helps to unify and strengthen the rule of the Supreme Leader, intensifying the suppression and execution of thousands of dissidents and political prisoners.
During the past 45 years, the people of Iran have been the victims of the brutal and inhumane behavior of the regime of the Supreme Leader. The latest example is the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, which led to the killing of thousands of children and teenagers, the blinding of hundreds of people, and the arrest and imprisonment of thousands of Iranian citizens.
The National Solidarity Movement stands as a secular democratic alternative movement within Iran, in response to the Israeli Prime Minister’s message to the people of Iran, firmly declare that we say a resounding “No” to any intervention by you or any other government in determining the destiny of the Iranian nation. We also declare that expanding the war is exactly what extremists within the regime of the Supreme Leader want. The regime of the Supreme Leader will intensify suppression and violence against protesters, political prisoners, women’s movements, labor movements, cultural and student movements, religious minorities, and the “Woman, Life, Freedom” movement, and this will only prolong the regime’s survival.
The strategy of cutting off the octopus’s head in Tehran is an expansion of war that will result in destructive, delusional, and divisive consequences, contrary to the national interests of both the Iranian and Israeli people.
Iran’s thousands-year-old history testifies that Jews have settled in Iran since ancient times and have always lived peacefully alongside other peoples of Iran. There has never been a military conflict between the two nations, and there is no need to enter into a “Cyrus Accord.” Undoubtedly, after the transition from the rule of the Supreme Leader and the establishment of a secular democracy in Iran, Iran’s relations with all countries, especially the government and people of Israel, will continue to be based on shared interests, just as they were before the establishment of the Islamic Republic in Iran.
We also remind you that the conflict between the Israeli and Palestinian peoples began in 1948, decades before the Islamic Revolution in Iran, and one cannot claim that this conflict will end with the departure of the Supreme Leader. Undoubtedly, the absence of the regime of the Supreme Leader and the establishment of secular democracy in Iran will be one of the most important factors in fostering stability and security in the Middle East. However, the ultimate solution to ending this conflict, as attempted through the Oslo Accords in 1993, must be resolved between the Israeli and Palestinian peoples themselves.
We believe that the United Nations Security Council has both the ability and the necessary ethical responsibility to prevent the expansion of an irreversible war and to support a peaceful transition led by a secular and democratic alternative within Iran, through a national referendum under the supervision of the United Nations Security Council, in accordance with the overwhelming will of the Iranian society for peace, security, and coexistence with other nations in the Middle East.
Respectfully,
Signatories from Iran,
